Discover the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Now Available at Titus-Will Toyota
Last year, you could purchase the Corolla iM, a compact hatchback left over from when Toyota discontinued its Scion line. It had its own sense of style and a great list of features, especially for its price, but it only had a single trim. However, 2019 brings us the Corolla Hatchback, a true extension of the Corolla line, with the same sort of design and features as Toyota's regular compact sedan. Take a look!
2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2019 Corolla Hatchback embraces the wilder side by coming in SE and XSE trims. With the SE hatchback, you get standard features like paddle shifters and an intelligent manual transmission, an 8-inch touch screen, 16-inch wheels, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. The XSE adds leather seats, a heated front row, 18-inch wheels, and more.
2019 Corolla Hatchback Engine (Power)
Look under the hood of any 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback and you'll find a 2.0-liter I-4 engine that delivers 168 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. Compare that to the Corolla sedan, which only offers 132 horsepower (or up to 140 on the LE Eco model). Both trims come with your choice of a six-speed intelligent manual transmission or a dynamic-shift continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a physical first gear, which helps the car launch from a stop and reduces wear on the CVT.
2019 Corolla Hatchback Performance
With its extra horsepower and torque, the 2019 Corolla Hatchback easily blows its sedan cousin out of the water in terms of acceleration and speed. At the same time, it offers a set of mechanical parts to match, like 15-inch disc brakes with a ventilated front pair, a drive away release system, and a tight suspension. On CVT models, you also get a set of three drive modes: Normal, Sport, and Eco. These drive modes allow you to set when and how the CVT shifts, so you can have it emphasize efficiency, acceleration, or go with a balance between the two.
2019 Corolla Hatchback Interior
While the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback places a strong emphasis on performance, it doesn't forget about giving you a comfortable interior. The hatchback has less room for passengers in the second row than the sedan does, but in exchange, it gives you 17.8 cubic feet for cargo (compared to the regular Corolla's 13 cubic feet). With the XSE trim, you can also get some nice features like dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch color display in the instrument cluster, and Entune Audio 3.0 Plus with an 8-inch touch screen.
2019 Corolla Hatchback Safety Features
Like any good Toyota, the 2019 Corolla Hatchback has a strong list of safety features. Both models come standard with special whiplash-injury-lessening seats, the Star Safety System, and eight air bags. The Corolla Hatchback also comes with the Toyota Safety Sense P package standard, which means both trims give you driver-assistance features like dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, lane departure alert with steering assist, and the important pre-collision system with pedestrian detection that can brake automatically if it senses that you're about to run into something.
